Calgary Flames Retire Number 34 in Pregame Ceremony
The Calgary Flames have retired the number 34 of legendary goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff in a pregame ceremony held before a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Kiprusoff's Legacy
Kiprusoff, a four-time NHL All-Star, played for the Flames from 2003 to 2013. He holds the franchise record for wins, shutouts, and save percentage. Kiprusoff was instrumental in leading the Flames to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2004.
Jersey Retirement Ceremony
The jersey retirement ceremony was attended by a capacity crowd at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Flames players donned jerseys with Kiprusoff's name and number on the back in honor of their former teammate. All fans in attendance received a commemorative Kiprusoff jersey.
Joining the Legends
Kiprusoff's number 34 is the fourth number retired by the Flames, joining forwards Lanny McDonald (9), Al MacInnis (2), and Joe Nieuwendyk (25).
